No Challenge Post Today – But Hey The Star Wars Trailer Made Me Cry

I’m still recovering and I ended up giving myself a migraine due to stress today so I’m going to be having some soup and then napping the rest of the day with my dog. But I did want to share with the world that I already snagged my tickets for the Star Wars movie last night and I cried my eyes out when I saw the final trailer.

Guys, I’m a Star Wars fangirl. I’m proud of that fact. I don’t care what anyone says, I adore the movies in their entirety, the shows, everything. So hearing that score, seeing everyone together, seeing Carrie Fisher playing Leia for the very last time – I WEEPED THE MANLIEST OF TEARS! I will never hide the fact that I’m a geek ever again and I am very vocal about my love for Star Wars. So this moment is as big as Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame were for me. This is going to be a very important movie and I can’t wait to cry my eyes out on that early preview with my friends and a theater filled with fellow geeks.

Have you seen the trailer yet? If not, here ya go! Enjoy and thanks for your patience with me everyone 🙂

Day Twenty – How Does Horror Factor Into Your Life?

What kind of question is this? XD I am honestly not entirely sure how they want me to answer so I am just gonna roll with it. I suppose horror in my life is streaming horror video games, reading scary stories, watching movies and shows with a horror vibe. But most of all, horror to me is every October going to both local haunts and making a trip to Orlando to go to Halloween Horror Nights!

I ADORE Halloween Horror Nights! And I am super hyped for the big 30 year anniversary next year! I will be posting my review of this year’s event soon so stay tuned 🙂

And with that, we complete Day Twenty of my 30 Day Horror Challenge! How does horror play into your life? Let me know in the comments below or share your own horror challenge! Thanks for reading 🙂

Day Nineteen – If You Had to Live through One Horror Movie, Which Would You Choose?

Oh god…I don’t know how to answer this one at all. I would never want to be in a horror movie setting ever. I don’t want people around me to be killed, mutilated, anything. So let me just say right now that that this is going to be a spoiler for the movie itself (and for the novella I guess) but if I’m going to get forced into a horror film, I’m gonna make sure I do some good.

Screw these people, we are not ending a bloody movie like this – especially since the novella itself ended not with the people in the car all getting shot by the father before he steps out of the car to be eaten only to find the military have arrived to save them – it was a bs ending and I disliked it immensely. The novella ends it with the group not in a world that’s being saved but looking towards the future in a world still filled with the mist and its monsters. No one shot their son for mercy only to find if he waited five more seconds they’d be safe.

So I would be in the mist and I would not fall to the craze of the religious nuts – and I WOULD NOT LET DAVID KILL EVERYONE INCLUDING HIS KID IN A MOMENT OF WEAKNESS BECAUSE THEY RAN OUT OF GAS! AHHHHHH! Yeah if I lived through the Mist I would be stopping that shit real quick.

Yeah, real talk – I would never imagine myself in a horror movie setting. I just can’t – I would literally be crushed because of people around me that I care for dying and I can’t deal with that. And god forbid if they do something to my dog – I’m gonna go John Wick on their asses. So yeah, I’m gonna make sure no one makes a stupid decision I hope. That is if I survive myself.

And with that, we conclude Day Nineteen of my 30 Day Horror Challenge! If you had to live through one horror movie, which would you choose? Let me know in the comments below or share your own horror challenge! Thanks for reading 🙂

Day Eighteen – What’s the Most Gripping Black and White Horror Film You’ve Seen?

“They’re Coming to Get You Barbra!” Yes, today for this topic, we’re gonna talk about a few of my favorite Black and White films in the horror genre 🙂 starting off with a classic, NIGHT OF THE LIVING DEAD!

This movie had a huge impact in the genre, especially in terms of zombie films as well as provided discussions on race and gender in film. In addition, it showcased some disturbing scenes for the time, including people eating others (granted – they zombies, so they dead xD) and even a living dead girl eating her parents who desperately tried to protect her from being offed by the other survivors. Nowadays these sorts of scenes are common practice but for this movie, a lot of what you see was revolutionary for the time. It provides a great discussion platform for the culture of the time and how horror took it’s steps forward from the release of this film.

Next up, let’s talk about Psycho! This is a movie I always treat myself to each Halloween. Hitchcock specifically chose to film this in black and white and I am so pleased with the outcome. I mean, this is a movie where they kill off the lead so fast and we are left in shock! Plus it has such great jump scares and beautifully crafted scenes. The shower scene will forever leave its mark as one of the most memorable kills in cinema history.

And lastly, let’s talk about Cat People – a movie where a sexually frustrated werepanther is ready to murder! It’s a movie that really stepped out from the boundaries of its time to showcase a sexual woman wanting more…and ready to kill to get exactly what she wants. Also, it is widely believed that this movie has the first “jump scare” in cinema.

And with that, we conclude Day Eighteen of my 30 Day Horror Challenge! What black and white horror movies are you a fan of? Share in the comments below or share your own horror challenge! Thanks for reading 🙂

30 Day Horror Challenge – Day Seventeen

30 day horror movie challenge - FOR OCTOBER
Horror Movie Challenge brought to you by @TheCryptKicker

Oh boy, we’re in for a treat this month everyone! As a special feature for October, this month’s 30 Day Challenge will be all about horror films, horror music, horror books, etc. I know many know me as the girl skipping around in her Disney dresses but believe it or not I LOVE HORROR! Whether its movies, games, etc. I’m on board 🙂 So I’m very excited to focus this month sharing some of my favorites in the genre of horror. So without further adieu, let’s jump into the challenge!

Day Seventeen – What Was the Most Believable Demonic Possession Horror Film You’ve Seen?

Oh boy, that’s a word huh – BELIEVABLE! I wouldn’t call any of these films “believable” but when it comes to possessions in horror films, I LOVE THESE! I’ll say The Exorcist (of course), the Exorcism of Emily Rose, Paranormal Activity, and Mirrors.

The Exorcist is pretty much the King of Possession Movies in Horror. In 1973, the world was taken by storm by Regan MacNeil’s possession. We saw this little girl deliver a performance so intense that fear struck the hearts of many who watched her spew green pea soup, turn her head wildly, blood gush from her mouth, stab herself in the crotch with a crucifix, and curse up a storm. It’s an excellent film and anyone who’s anyone should jump into this classic tale.

The Exorcism of Emily Rose is a phenomenal and dark performance delivered by Jennifer Carpenter as the possessed Emily. She contorts her body in such a manner, it’s mesmorizing and sickening to watch at the same time. When it comes to the more hard-hitting possession performance, I think this one takes the cake.

Paranormal Activity, which I’ve probably already mentioned in the past here, is a lot of fun for a possession movie. I think it’s less believable than some of the others, less hard-hitting performances compared to the violent Regan or Emily, but it’s still great deliveries from a cast of characters who were brought into a cursed lifestyle of sorts. It’s a more modern classic in the genre.

And lastly Mirrors – mainly because I just wanna talk about Mirrors! So many people don’t even realize this movie exists but it’s such a good one! It also stems from a fear of reflections and that the thing on the other side of that glass is not reflecting you as it should. And that if your reflection inflicts pain onto you, you will likely die. Plus, we have another child possession which is always the hardest to watch. Children are so innocent and don’t deserve that pain.

And with that, we conclude Day Seventeen of my 30 Day Horror Challenge! What possession films do you think are the most believable – or really, which ones did you like the most? Let me know in the comments below or share your own horror challenge! Thanks for reading 🙂

30 Day Horror Challenge – Day Sixteen

Oh boy, we’re in for a treat this month everyone! As a special feature for October, this month’s 30 Day Challenge will be all about horror films, horror music, horror books, etc. I know many know me as the girl skipping around in her Disney dresses but believe it or not I LOVE HORROR! Day Sixteen – Freebie: Talk About A Favorite Horror Movie, Show, Book, Game, etc.

So I’m calling this topic a freebie since the one they had for today was way too close to Day Fourteen’s question. So instead I’m going to talk about a favorite “horror” piece of media of mine. It can be a movie, TV show, miniseries, short, book, game, etc. So if anyone is also following the challenge and looking for a freebie topic, this one works 🙂

Today we’re going to talk about Until Dawn, a interactive survivor horror game where you are basically playing a part in a horror movie. You play one of eight different characters over the span of one night deep in the Blackwood Mountains at a vacation home of Josh Washington and his family. The game takes place following the tragedy that befell twins Beth and Hannah. The group decides to reunite for a party at the lodge and find themselves in the night from hell. Who will survive? It’s up to how you play the game. Just note that deaths are permanent in your game so you have to be careful with how you react.

I also shamelessly ship Sam and Josh in this game ❤ they seemed like such dorks and I had hoped something would happen with that relationship. Also Chris and Ashley ❤

I have a love for these interactive type of games, especially ones with real consequences (I loved the Telltale titles but there wasn’t much impact to the gameplay on what decisions you made). I’m always on the edge of my seat playing them since I try so hard to get the very best ending possible (I don’t like people dying on my watch – even though they are virtual). Hell, this weekend playing Man of Medan, we literally had to start the game over because I missed one quick time event and one of the characters was going to die because of it. I WANT TO PROTECT ALL MY VIRTUAL BABIES, EVEN THE ONES THAT ANNOY THE HELL OUT OF ME! Looking at you Emily in Until Dawn xD I love replaying Until Dawn and just experiencing the game again and again. The storyline itself is so-so but I love the gameplay and the characters are fun to interact with.

And with that, we conclude Day Sixteen of my 30 Day Horror Challenge! Share with me a favorite piece of horror media! It can be a movie, TV show, book, game, you name it 🙂 let me know in the comments below or share your own horror challenge! Thanks for reading 🙂
